Arable Farming
Our in-hand farming operation covers approximately 2,000 acres of arable land. With a focus on modern agricultural techniques, such as, regular soil testing and soil health improvements, direct drilling and minimal tillage techniques, our farms can optimise yields whilst maintain the land in optimum condition.
Livestock Farming
Our livestock operation consists of a herd of 50 Luing cattle as well as a flock of 650 ewes and 1400 breeding pedigree Blackface sheep. More than half of Snaigow Estate is home to grassland, and the addition of upland hill ground makes it ideal to support traditional upland breeds, such as the Scottish Blackface.
We welcomed the Luing herd onto the Estate in 2024, recognising their suitability for our farming practices and land. Luing cattle are exceptionally hardy and known for their ability to raise healthy calves in all weathers. The cattle are grazed outdoors throughout the year and calve in the spring months.
Food and Farming
Anna MacKinnon who oversees the lowground flock of sheep, is passionate about food and farming and actively promotes agricultural topics within her additional roles as a classroom speaker for Royal Highland Educational Trust and ambassador for Quality Meat Scotland.
Within these roles, Anna gets to engage with children about food and farming topics, such as food miles, local produce and the economic impact on rural communities or connect with consumers about the benefits of red meat as part of a healthy, balanced and sustainable diet.
Anna has a passion for cooking and is now able to bring Snaigow Estate reared-meats to the local community by crafting monthly recipe meal kits for the Snaigow Estate Pantry. We are very proud to have Anna as part of our team.
